Sony ZV-E10 Vlog Camera with APS-C Sensor and 4K 30p Videos is now available in India.

Sony has announced the release of its latest vlogger-focused camera, the ZV-1. The current camera, the Sony ZV-E10, is an obvious upgrade from Sony's original camera, which, according to all marketing material, was "inspired" by the needs of the ardent video creator. While there is no shortage of people (including us) who shoot a lot of videos throughout the day and create video blogs (or vlogs) to post on YouTube, Instagram, and, for those who have it, TikTok – there is a pretty compelling argument that the average smartphone, particularly the premium and flagship models, are capable of producing such content. So why would you need a camera like the Sony ZV-E10?

Sony ZV-E10: key features

To begin, the Sony ZV-E10 has a clear suggestion of quality, as it has an APS-C sensor. It has a 24MP sensor, which the company also utilizes in their all-arounder mirrorless camera, the a6100. Sony expects that this will be a clear indication of the kind of video quality that can be produced with this camera. The maximum video quality is 4K 30p, although with a 1.23x sensor reduction.

According to sources, the E10 can also record 1080p full HD films at up to 120 frames per second with a 1.14x sensor crop. Creators who like to use the full width will have to sacrifice frame rates - the E10 supports full sensor video recording at 4K 24p. Because the camera appeals to professional filmmakers, Sony has included ten Sony Cinema image profiles for shooting in a specific cinematic manner. S-Log 2, S-Log 3, and HLG readouts can also be used to shoot and export video footage, albeit at 8-bit fidelity. This thus qualifies the E10 as a camera with substantially superior video quality than the ordinary smartphone, but well below that of true 'pro' cameras.

A fully articulating 3-inch touch LCD display that can be turned completely forward for creating selfie vlogs is also an important feature. It contains a pre-programmed background defocus button that expands the aperture to its maximum to optically blur out your background, as well as two stabiliser settings – standard and active. While standard mode solely employs the optical stabilization of compatible lenses to make non-cropped films, active mode combines the lens OSS with the camera's own electronic stabilization to deliver smoother results – albeit at a 1.44x video cut.
