REASONS TO BUY

+  6.43-inch FHD 90Hz screen

+  Long battery life and fast charging

+  Good camera system

REASONS TO AVOID

-  Limited zoom

-  So-so speaker

-  Not waterproof

This Oppo Find X5 Lite review is for anyone seeking one of the best inexpensive phones - it's feature-packed, the battery lasts a long time, and it looks fantastic, yet it won't break the bank.

The OppoFind X5 Lite, one of three phones released, is the cheapest cellphone in the Find X5 series. Above it is the Oppo Find X5 and Oppo Find X5 Pro, both of which I tested and found to be two of the best phones this year for those willing to spend the money.

The Oppo Find X5 Lite, as the name suggests, cuts back on these smartphones to lower the price without compromising too much of what made them so wonderful in the first place.

This Find X5 Lite will cover all you need to know about it, from its design and display to its camera system and performance, to help you decide if this is the ideal phone for you.

OPPO FIND X5 LITE REVIEW: PRICE AND WHAT’S NEW

The Oppo Find X5 Lite was initially priced at £419 in the UK and AU$795 in Australia. The Oppo Find X5 Lite, like the rest of the Find X5 series, is not available in the United States.

You're likely to discover some pretty amazing offers on this phone, so check out the widgets on this page to see the best rates available right now from around the web.

The Oppo Find X5 Lite is the series' most affordable handset. Oppo has slimmed down the Oppo Find X5 in several ways to keep the pricing this low.

To begin, the Oppo Find X5 Lite is both smaller and lighter than the Oppo Find X5, with a 6.43-inch screen as compared to a 6.55-inch screen and weighing 173g as opposed to 196g. The display's colour depth has also been reduced from 10-bit with a refresh rate of 120Hz to 8-bit with a refresh rate of 90Hz. It's also not as sturdy because Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is used instead of Gorilla Glass Victus.

Under the hood is a more basic MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset, but you still get the same amount of RAM and storage as on the Find X5. The battery is also significantly lower, at 4,500mAh here against the 4,800mAh battery found in the X5. Charging power has also been reduced from 80W SUPERVOOC to 65W.

The camera is still a three-lens configuration, but it now has a 64MP main camera, an 8MP wide-angle camera, and a 2MP macro camera. The Oppo Find X5 is equipped with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 13MP telephoto camera.

OPPO FIND X5 LITE REVIEW: DESIGN AND DISPLAY

The Find X5 series phones don't all look the same; the Find X5 Pro has a shiny ceramic design, the Find X5 has a glass back that nearly seems like rubber, and the Oppo Find X5 Lite has a shimmering coating that is supposed to look like a starry sky.

This is available in Starry Black and Startrails Blue. I tried out the black version and I must say that I like it. It's intriguing without being overly dramatic.

A three-lens camera notch sits on the rear; unlike the Find X5 Pro, it is not smoothly incorporated into the chassis, but rather sticks out sharply and angularly. The device has an aluminum frame around the edge that includes a USB-C port, a power button, and a volume rocker, but there is no headphone jack, so you'll need to buy an adaptor for wired earphones or switch to Bluetooth headphones.

One advantage of the rear case is that it does not quickly pick up dirty fingerprints prints, and you get the idea that it will endure knocks, bumps, and even drops for people who are a little more clumsy. It is not IP certified, thus it cannot be said to be waterproof or even water-resistant; you must exercise caution when using it on a wet day.

The Oppo Find X5 Lite is the most comfortable to hold in the entire series due to its size. It measures 7.81mm thick, 73.2mm wide, and weighs 173g. If you have little hands like mine, you can use them one-handed. I could reach my thumb across the entire width of the screen.

A 6.43-inch display spans the front of the phone, with low bezels, though there's definitely space for improvement with a screen-to-body ratio of 90.8 percent.

The screen features an FHD resolution of 2400x1080p, which I found to be crystal clear and sharp. The colours aren't nearly as brilliant as on its more expensive siblings, but they still seem rich thanks to the phone's 800nits peak brightness with HDR or HDR10+ video. Although the display is more difficult to see in bright light than on more expensive smartphones, it is still visible the majority of the time.

Despite this, I'd say this is one of the nicest screens available for a low-cost phone. I used it to stream videos from Netflix and YouTube, and I thought it was accurate enough to complete online shopping without any colour surprises, and I was able to scroll around Instagram indefinitely because it seemed really smooth.

You may unlock the display using either the in-display fingerprint sensor or face recognition. Even though the fingerprint scanner takes a second or two to work, both were speedy and dependable.

OPPO FIND X5 LITE REVIEW: CAMERA SYSTEM

The Oppo Find X5 Lite features a three-lens back camera system with a 64MP main camera, an 8MP wide-angle camera, and a 2MP macro camera, as well as a 32MP selfie snapper on the front.

On its default point-and-shoot settings, the camera captures photographs well, whether up close to the subject or further away. Shots of the city appeared active without being oversaturated, and the colours were true yet vibrant.

The camera handled sequences with a lot of light and dark parts well, retaining plenty of balance, lightening up the shadows and dimming the lighter spots.

When you examine them carefully, the photographs don't have nearly as much detail as the greatest phone cameras can generate. Lines get blurred, and there is also some chromatic aberration.

Because it lacks a telephoto lens, the zoom is considerably more limited than on the Find X5. The photographs were blurry and worthless at the greatest zoom of 10x. It's a pity, given that several other phones now provide an astonishing 100x superzoom.

Taking images in the first place is simple and quick; the image is captured practically quickly when you hit the shutter button.

There are also a few alternative camera modes to experiment with, such as a portrait mode that blurs away the background, making photographs appear more professional. However, it is not the most effective portrait mode in the world because it will blur out some things that you do not want to be blurred out, such as strands of hair or the corners of your glasses.

OPPO FIND X5 LITE REVIEW: PERFORMANCE AND BATTERY

When it comes to processing power, the Oppo Find X5 Lite cannot compete with the best gaming phones, but it may be compared to its immediate competitors, which include the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and the OnePlus Nord 2.

Its MediaTek Dimensity 900 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage place it squarely in the middle of the performance spectrum. Its Geekbench 5 scores reflect this, with a single-core score of 701 and a multi-core score of 2,185. Ultimately, this phone will do most things fairly well; I had no issues switching between many open windows or starting apps, albeit it was notably slower than its flagship peers.

One of the nicest features Oppo phones have when it comes to performance is the ability to borrow extra RAM from the built-in storage; you can add up to 5GB more on the Oppo Find X5 Lite, so if you need to utilise it for some more demanding tasks, you can.

The Oppo Find X5 Lite supports 5G for individuals who live in an area with modern networks. If 5G isn't now available where you live, it will be prepared for what's to come.

The battery life and charge speeds of the phones are two of the best elements of the entire Find X5 series, and while the Oppo Find X5 Lite may not look as spectacular on paper, it truly holds its own. It's a major talking point, especially when compared to competing phones at this pricing bracket.

The 4,500mAh battery easily lasts the entire day and possibly up to two days depending on how much you use it, and you won't need to bring your charger to work with you, which is a blessing.

When I conducted my regular video test on it, in which I downloaded and played an HD video at full brightness for two hours, the battery level only decreased by 10%, indicating that it would have lasted a total of 20 hours. That's a lot, especially for a phone this cheap.

Then, using the provided 65W charger, it was recharged from flat to full in slightly over 30 minutes. It's one of the phone's most striking features since you'll use it all the time. I'm bad at remembering to charge my phone, but even if I forget until the last minute, I never have to leave home scared about running out of battery.

The Oppo Find X5 Lite has one speaker, but it faces down from the bottom edge of the frame, so it won't provide a powerful surround sound, and it's a little tinnier than on other handsets. You won't want to listen to music on this phone, but it's loud enough to view videos.

Behind the scenes, the phone is powered by Color OS 12, one of my favourite Android-based operating systems. Why? Because it is enjoyable to use without being overly comical or difficult.

It's simple to drag the Oppo Find X5 Lite's screen onto your PC for file uploads, and it includes useful features like detailed battery data and 'anti-peeping technology,' which hides alerts when the AI detects other people staring at your screen.

My only complaint is that it comes pre-loaded with a few useless apps, such as Booking.com and Amazon Music, but you can simply erase those if you don't think you'll use them.

OPPO FIND X5 LITE REVIEW: VERDICT

If the Oppo Find X5 series appeals to you but the prospect of paying £750 or more on a smartphone makes you sick, the Oppo Find X5 Lite is a great alternative, even if it doesn't appear like a member of the family from the outside.

The 6.43-inch screen is amazing, its performance is comparable to its mid-range rivals, its tiny size makes it comfortable to hold, and the three-lens rear camera system will astound you with the quality of images it can take. But none of those features are what distinguishes this phone. The combination of two-day battery life and super-fast charging makes this device well worth considering.

Granted, the Oppo Find X5 Lite has a few problems to contend with, such as the poor zoom, mediocre speaker, and lack of an IP rating - and to make matters worse, competition at this price point is tough right now. Nonetheless, this is a wonderful low-cost device with a lot to offer.
